Enjoying Mount Agung does not always require a visit to Karangasem or Pura Besakih. Another scenic viewpoint can be found at Bukit Tengah, located in Klungkung, where visitors can admire Mount Agung alongside vast green hills.
Bukit Tengah is located on Jalan Raya Goa Lawah. More specifically, after passing Pura Goa Lawah and heading toward Goa Lawah Beach, visitors will find an entrance sign to Bukit Tengah on the left after driving a few hundred meters. From I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, the journey takes approximately 1 hour and 17 minutes (about 52 kilometers).
Bukit Tengah is commonly visited as a camping destination, where a traditional joglo-style structure stands firmly on the hill. Upon parking their vehicles, visitors are immediately greeted by panoramic views of rolling green hills and Tanjung Melanting near Padang Bai Harbor, often veiled in a thin layer of mist. From the top of Bukit Tengah, the scenery is breathtaking in every direction: to the south lies the vast expanse of the sea, to the west stretch the hills, to the east are forested areas and Padang Bai, and to the north stands the majestic Mount Agung.
The best times to enjoy the views at Bukit Tengah are during sunrise and at dusk.
