Mangupura, January 1, 2025 — To deliver an iconic service experience for travelers, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia organized a festive New Year’s Eve celebration at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport. The last departing passenger of 2024 and the first arriving passenger of 2025 received a warm welcome with traditional Balinese rindik music and dance performances, held on Tuesday night (December 31) at the international terminal.

In addition to being entertained by authentic Balinese cultural performances, passengers of Jetstar Asia flight 3K240 to Singapore the final flight departing Bali in 2024 were also presented with special New Year souvenirs. The gifts, featuring the uniqueness of Indonesian culture in the form of batik-patterned hand fans, were handed over by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Regional II CEO Wahyudi, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport General Manager Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, along with the airport’s management team.

As a symbolic gesture of welcome, the first arriving passenger of 2025 aboard Indonesia AirAsia flight QZ247 from Phuket to Denpasar was greeted with a garland of bright orange gemitir (marigold) flowers, a signature Balinese welcome tradition. The New Year celebration at the airport was further enlivened by live music and DJ performances at the international arrivals public area, creating a festive atmosphere for passengers and visitors alike.

According to Ahmad Syaugi, the evening’s program was designed to provide passengers with a different kind of experience. “An airport is not merely a transit point for passengers to board or disembark from aircraft. We want it to be a place where memorable and joyful experiences are created. We envision this airport as a showcase of Indonesian culture, especially Bali. That’s why we continue to highlight the beauty of Balinese culture not only through infrastructure and interiors adorned with Balinese ornaments throughout the airport, but also by presenting live cultural performances like tonight’s,” he said.

Brandy, a tourist from the United States and a passenger of Qatar Airways flight QR963 to Doha, expressed her delight at the event. “The dance was beautiful. What I really like about this airport is its easy access, along with the hospitality and culture it’s wonderful,” she remarked.

Syaugi added that in line with the company’s transformation program, the airport will continue to develop innovations and take proactive steps to enhance its services. “Together with our stakeholders, we are building a strong ecosystem, one of which is by strengthening technology-based coordination channels. For example, in 2024 we implemented Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM), which aims to improve air traffic flow and airport capacity management,” he explained.
