Mangupura, March 21, 2025 – PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport officially launched the Integrated Lebaran Transport Monitoring Post 2025/1446 H on Friday (March 21). Located in the public area of the domestic arrivals terminal, the monitoring post will operate for 22 days, from March 21 to April 11, 2025.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated after the opening that the post is designed to monitor flight operations, passenger traffic, and ensure the readiness of service facilities and supporting airport operations during the Lebaran holiday period.
“To anticipate the surge in passengers and the increased air and landside traffic, solid synergy and coordination among all airport stakeholders are essential. Especially during peak travel periods like this, every movement must be thoroughly monitored and supervised. We want to assure all airport users that services at I Gusti Ngurah Rai remain safe, smooth, and comfortable,” Syaugi said.
Personnel involved in the operation of the post include staff from Angkasa Pura Indonesia and various stakeholders, such as the Airport Authority Office, Airport Police, Indonesian Air Force, Air Navigation (LPPNPI), Search and Rescue (SAR), Health Quarantine Authority, airlines, and ground handling companies.
“During the monitoring period, we will optimize personnel deployment so that all passenger-facing services can run smoothly, reducing queues and congestion,” he added.
Unlike other cities that serve primarily as homecoming (mudik) destinations, Bali is expected to remain a prime holiday destination during this Lebaran period.
According to Syaugi, the airport is projected to handle 1.5 million passengers, an increase of 4.5% compared to Lebaran 2024. On average, this equals 69,549 passengers per day, with peak traffic expected on March 28 (81,094 passengers) and the return peak on April 7 (81,859 passengers).
Aircraft movements are also forecasted to rise. Over the 22-day Lebaran transport period, I Gusti Ngurah Rai is expected to handle 9,001 take-offs and landings, averaging 409 movements per day, or 5.6% higher than the same period in 2024.
To accommodate demand, seven airlines have applied for extra flights, totaling 401 additional flights with more than 68,000 extra seats, all serving domestic routes. The highest number of extra flights are for Surabaya (174 flights), followed by Jakarta (80), Makassar (42), Semarang (42), Lombok (28), Timika (16), Pontianak (14), Sorong (4), and Yogyakarta (1).
“During this peak season, we strongly urge departing passengers to allocate extra travel time and arrive at the airport earlier to avoid long queues,” Syaugi concluded.
