Mangupura, October 7, 2025 — The international racing event MotoGP Mandalika 2025 successfully took place at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, on Sunday (October 5). Following the success of this annual event, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali recorded a noticeable increase in passenger traffic to and from Lombok. During the period of October 1–5, 2025, a total of 3,442 passengers traveled on the Denpasar–Lombok route, consisting of 1,712 arrivals and 1,730 departures. Over the five-day observation period, the airport recorded an average of 688 passengers per day, with the highest peak traffic on October 2, 2025, reaching 820 passengers.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that the MotoGP Mandalika event also brought a positive impact for the Bali airport. “We observed that passenger traffic to and from Lombok over the past five days showed positive growth, with a total of 3,442 passengers. Compared to the same period in the previous week (September 26–30, 2025), which recorded 3,210 passengers, this represents a significant increase of more than 7 percent,” explained Syaugi. He further elaborated that the increase in passenger numbers had been anticipated, following additional flight requests from Wings Air on the Denpasar–Lombok–Denpasar route, scheduled for October 2 and 7, 2025.
“Before the MotoGP race on Sunday (October 5), we also recorded two private charter flights from Bali to Lombok. This reflects the high enthusiasm among the public to witness the world’s most prestigious motorcycle racing event firsthand. On a broader scale, this phenomenon also presents opportunities for both regional and national tourism growth,” he added.
As part of the synergy among airports under InJourney Airports, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the smooth operation and success of the MotoGP Mandalika event. “Ngurah Rai Airport is currently connected to over 50 major cities worldwide and across Indonesia. As Indonesia’s main tourism gateway, through international-scale events like MotoGP, we aim to continue connecting the world to various destinations in Indonesia, including Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara,” Syaugi concluded.
