Mangupura, August 10, 2025 – Anticipating and responding to the strong public demand for travel during the school holiday and summer break period, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali recorded a significant surge in both passenger and flight movements. Throughout July, the island’s main gateway served a total of 2,356,143 passengers, the highest monthly figure recorded in 2025. Of that total, 891,466 passengers (38 percent) traveled on domestic routes, while 1,464,677 passengers (62 percent) flew on international routes.
On a daily basis, an average of 76,005 passengers traveled through the airport during this period, an increase of 22 percent compared to the first-half 2025 daily average of 63,117 passengers.
In addition to the significant rise in passenger traffic, flight movements also increased. In July, the airport recorded 13,127 aircraft movements, consisting of 6,070 domestic flights and 7,057 international flights. This translates to an average of 423 aircraft movements per day, an 11 percent increase compared to the January–June 2025 daily average of 381 movements.
Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, stated that the increase had been anticipated in advance through close coordination with all airport stakeholders and related agencies.
"We are seeing a positive trend at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport as July falls within the school holiday and summer vacation period. Demand for holidays in Bali remains very high. Compared to other peak holiday seasons, such as New Year or Eid al-Fitr 2025, when daily averages ranged between 62,000 and 72,000 passengers, July exceeded 76,000 passengers per day the highest daily average of the year," he said.
"In fact, based on our processed data, during the peak of the school holiday return flow, we served more than 79,000 passengers with 441 aircraft movements arrivals and departures on July 11, 2025," he added.
From January through July 2025, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has served a cumulative total of 13,780,388 passengers, consisting of 5,076,296 domestic passengers and 8,704,092 international passengers. During the same period, the airport recorded 82,018 aircraft movements, including 36,838 domestic flights and 45,180 international flights.
The three most popular routes, based on passenger numbers and flight movements, were:
Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta/Cengkareng) – 416,526 passengers and 2,158 aircraft movements.
Singapore – 274,555 passengers carried across 1,102 aircraft movements.
Kuala Lumpur – 165,507 passengers served on 902 flights.
Despite the surge in passenger and flight traffic, the airport management remains committed to upholding standards of safety, security, and service.
