Mangupura, March 26, 2025 – Five days after the official opening of the 2025/1446 H Eid Transport Command Post (Posko Angkutan Lebaran), passenger and flight traffic at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has not yet shown a significant surge.

According to compiled Eid transport statistics, during the first five days the airport served a total of 278,053 passengers, consisting of 98,843 domestic passengers and 179,210 international passengers.

“As of the fifth day of the Eid transport post, the increase is not yet visible. Compared to the same period during Eid 2024, which recorded 277,296 passengers, the growth is less than 1 percent. So overall, the movement is still relatively stable,” said Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

A similar condition was observed in aircraft movements, with a total of 1,778 flights, slightly lower by 1.5 percent compared to 1,805 flights during the same period in 2024. “We predict this is because offices are still operating as usual, so there are not yet many people traveling either for vacations to Bali or for homecoming trips,” Syaugi added.

Although overall passenger growth has not yet risen significantly, domestic traffic has begun to increase gradually since the fourth week of March, coinciding with the Eid transport period. The highest outbound domestic passenger movement was recorded on Tuesday (March 25), with 11,317 departures, while domestic arrivals to Bali on the same day reached 11,017 passengers, the highest daily figure in March.

“From the data we processed, domestic passenger traffic has slowly increased. If the daily average of domestic passengers during the first three weeks of March was 13,934, during the Eid post it rose to 19,769 passengers per day – a growth of 42 percent. We are optimistic that in the coming days, approaching Eid, passenger numbers will continue to increase,” Syaugi explained.

The airport projects that passenger numbers on Thursday (March 26) will reach 61,000, higher than the previous day, while the peak of the return flow is expected on Friday (March 28), with up to 81,000 passengers.

Syaugi further noted that this year’s Eid coincides closely with Bali’s Nyepi celebrations, with related activities already underway. “We urge the public traveling to the airport between March 26 and 28 to allow extra time for their journey, as traffic diversions may be applied on several routes,” he concluded.
